Arthur G. Cook is a Principal with ZS, a management consulting firm specializing in the pharmaceutical industry. Previously he was Director of Global Forecasting for Syntex Pharmaceuticals. Art has been involved in pharmaceutical forecasting for over 30 years, has worked with many major pharmaceutical companies on their forecasting processes, and has created forecasts for over 150 therapy areas. He has written and presented widely on the subject of forecasting, portfolio management, market research, and pricing for the pharmaceutical industry.

Nicely covers the broad areas of forecasting, and thats just what it does. It does not get in to the details. So if you are someone who wants to brush your knowledge then this is for you, but if you are looking to learn new methods then maybe you may want to look at some other options.

Excellent introduction and review of pharma forecasting

This is a slim book with lots of good information for anybody wanting to get started forecasting their pharmaceutical and biotechnology products, as well as emerging companies with little portfolio management infrastructure looking to strengthen their forecasting process. There is much to be learned and few wasted words. Unlike many books that are used in a classroom setting and are intended primarily as a reference text this book presents forecasting in a practical and concise manner that makes you want to get started. This is a book that can be read cover to cover in three or four hours, so you get the whole picture in one or two bites.

Highly recommended as an introductory or refresher text for anybody involved in pharmaceutical or biotechnology product forecasting, and those involved in product development who wants to get a better handle on what their product is capable of achieving in the commercial setting.

The book is not inexpensive, but it offers a good payback in terms of price and time invested. If you order from Amazon you have the comfort of knowing that if the book doesn't meet your expectations you can easily return it for a refund less a small shipping charge. Unlike many other generic forecasting books this one addresses the unique characteristics of the pharmaceutical market and stays away from a heavy statistics treatment. Readers learn that the three incorrigible children are not the only wolfish humans in the series and also a fair amount about poetic feet-especially iambic pentameter. And the story continues……..

My children and I have really enjoyed these books. The characters are intriguing and the story is good. However, it has been too drawn out. When I finished this one, I just wanted to say, "wrap it up already"! There are too many authors today who make their series way longer than necessary--and unfortunately this one has done so as well. I'm not saying don't read it, but just be prepared to be frustrated at the end!

Still enjoyable...but COME ON

I still love this series. And I do realize it's written for middle-grade readers. BUT . . . I have officially reached the point where I am glad the next installment isn't available yet, because the storyline is actually getting a bit redundant.

The clues, or perhaps red herrings, that have been exposed seem to be pointing to several obvious conclusions. Or at least semi-obvious conclusions. But these same clues have been blatantly exposed throughout the series, with little forward progress. Penelope's hair color has been hidden to keep her safe. Her hair color matches that of the Incorrigibles. Someone secretly took care of the Incorrigibles when they were living with the wolves. Old Timothy seems to be everywhere and know everything. Judge Quinzy, or whoever he is (no spoilers here) is up to something.

I'm beginning to feel that the secret or secrets, whatever they are, are not going to be too very astounding because it just TOOK TOO LONG TO GET THERE.

Anyway. This one was still funny, taking the readers away from Ashton Place again, this time to the Swanburne school, which seems to be in a bit of financial (and other) trouble. Penelope delivers a filibuster, chickens perform a dance routine, and Frederick Ashton learns that howling at the moon might not be so bad. Still an enjoyable read, but I, for one, am happy for a break.

I haven't begun reading this book yet, but as it is the 4th in a series, I know I can expect continued good prose and an unusual plot line. At first I didn't realize that the book series is a satire of 19th Century social and moral customs in the United Kingdom, but once I did, I enjoyed the book so much that I have continued with the series. The best name in the book is the "Swanburne School for Poor, Bright Females" --a phrase that derides the orphanage system of the times while snidely bringing out the point that some of the brightest and best in the world come from humble origins, not from the socially elite. Adult attitudes towards children in general are cleverly skewered, as well as class distinctions and the status of women. Then, there is a mystery to solve, which keeps us all guessing. This series is written for middle school children, but it holds the attention of adults very well.

About the Author
Paul Bergman is a Professor of Law at the UCLA School of Law and a recipient of a University Distinguished Teaching Award. His recent books include Reel Justice: The Courtroom Goes to the Movies (Andrews & McMeel); Trial Advocacy: Inferences, Arguments, Techniques (with Moore and Binder, West Publishing Co.); and Represent Yourself In Court and The Criminal Law Handbook (both with Sara Berman, Nolo). He has also published numerous articles in law journals and regularly gives presentations on how law and lawyers are portrayed in film. I'm a BIG fan of NOLO law books.

I read the 10th edition of this book, which was published in 2008. It is a great book to help with a study of criminal law. It's also a comfort if you are currently charged with a crime and awaiting a trial, or a hearing before the judge. It informs you of the steps that you go through as you wind your way through the legal system. If you are going to trial, I strongly recommend that you have a trial by jury, if that is an option. Six (or more) jurors have to unanimously find you guilty in order to be convicted. If you choose to have your case be heard only by the judge, then that one person will decide your fate. If your attorney tries to convince you that a bench trial, with the judge deciding your case, is the best option for whatever reason, I would "just say NO" to the trial by judge option. I have nothing against judges and their ability to give you a fair trial. However, if only one person in a jury trial finds you not guilty, you will be acquitted due to the hung jury. Acquitted may not be the correct term. You may just be a person that still has a charge against you. If you do have a hung jury, I believe the prosecution can retry you in front of a new jury. Depending on the charge(s) against you, and the evidence that they have, they will decide if it is worth the time and effort to go through another trial. If they decide to not retry your case, I would think that the charge(s) against you would be dropped. I'm not an attorney, and I don't play one on TV. Some of what I have written may not be factual. However, there is one part of my book review that I am VERY sure of. If you go to trial, choose to have a jury trial IF it is an option for you. I mentioned that I read the 2008 edition of this NOLO law book. I just spent about thirty minutes comparing the text in my book to the text in the book that Amazon allows you to sample. I saw almost no changes between the two editions. I noticed that some statistics were more current in this 2013 edition. An older edition would suffice if you are trying to save money.

An inspiring and absolutely true story

I just finished reading this book cover to cover in a day. It was definitely too good to put down. Benny Hinn did a wonderful job telling his life story, including the trials and the happy times. I think the book was an inspiration to all, that not only does God really perform miracles, He loves His children deeply, and is always faithful. I so enjoyed reading about Pastor Benny's visions and encounters with the Lord. I noticed that throughout the book, Pastor Benny would take the time to give God all the glory for His miracles. What a humble man of God Benny Hinn is. Perhaps that is one of the reasons God can use him so much. I think this book reads very well, and if you haven't read it, what are you waiting for?

HERE WE GO AGAIN.....IN THE LAST DAYS....

The bible warns us of exactly this....many will come in my name and be false prophets....and many will come to me saying "lord, lord, we performed many miricles in your name, and i will say..depart, i never knew you"...i can sun benny hinns so called ministry in one sentence.
Follow Jesus or follow Benny Hinn, but you CANT do BOTH !!!!
In a wicked generation looking for signs, Benny is full of them..just not from God,...well o.k. the god of this world.
Benny Hinn followers , the bible tell us "seek me with all your heart and you will find ME"...IT DIDNT SAY, YOU WILL FIND BENNY HINN !!....repent now, draw near to God and run from Benny !!
