This series is a guilty pleasure without all the calories.

The Sweet Life: Lies and Omissions book two continues with Jessica, Todd, Elizabeth, Bruce, Lila and Ken. In this book, readers find that Jessica and Todd's relationship is on the rocks still. Jessica has made a big mistake. She slept with Liam O'Connor. Jessica figures though that it was a one time thing and as long as Todd does not find out, she can make things right and get her family back together.

Elizabeth has found Robin Platt. She is the intern that is accusing Bruce of sleeping with her. Once Elizabeth hears Robin's story, Elizabeth starts having doubts about Bruce's innocences. Especially, when Bruce's story has some holes in his story. With Elizabeth wanting to protect Robin, her and her relationship with Bruce becomes strained.

Lila is determined to win back her husband, Ken Matthews. She will not let some other housewife have her husband. Steven Wakefield and his partner, Aaron are adjusting to their life together with their baby girl, Emma.

Caroline Pearce is Sweet Valley's resident bitch. This is why when she learns that Jessica and Liam slept together. She can not wait to spill the beans on this juicy gossip.

First off, I like the concept of this mini series of books. It is like reading about a soap opera. With the old Sweet Valley books, the twins did find themselves in trouble but nothing that they could not deal with and usually by the end of the book, everything was back to normal. Not this time. Grown up Elizabeth and Jessica have to deal with the real world.

Jessica is her usual self. She gives into temptation too easy and falls into bed with Liam. Still not too sure about her and Todd together. While, I know Elozabeth and Todd probably would not have lasted, I still can not picture Jessica and Todd as a couple who have a son. Todd has trust issues with Jessica. I can not blame him.

There is no change with Elizabeth either. She falls for Robin's story too easily. Not to say that maybe it is true but if she really loves Bruce like she says she does, then she would have his side until she learns the truth. Also, Lila is acting like a spoiled brat. She has a great husband in Ken but she of course can not see it until it is too late.

Steven and Aaron make a nice couple with their daughter Emma. However, their story did not really help add anything to the main story line.

I am getting into this series more and more. I am hooked. This series is a guilty pleasure without all the calories. Can't wait to see what craziness happens in book three.

for all of you out there who loved the sweet valley books when you were kids; prepare to have it all go down the drain. elizabeth and todd do NOT live happily ever after, he cheats on her with jessica amd they get married. >.< elizabeth after her heart being destroyed by the two people she loved most moves to new york and lives a miserable lonely life only to them start dating bruce patman. i can honestly say that francine pascal must be going through really hard times and has decided to take her anger out on two generations of people by ruining their childhood. congradulations francine for being a buttface

Exciting, and definitely leaves you anxious for next Sunday!

This second serial book picks up right where The Sweet Life #1: An E-Serial leaves off. It is a lot shorter, and a much faster read - especially considering the various cliffhangers that it ends on. And while the pairings amongst the key characters are not ones that I would have selected, so I don't feel invested in their relationships working out, I am definitely excited to see what happens next! I am now officially hooked and looking forward to what next week will bring to these soap operatic plots! This entire set up of weekly releases of short novels reinforces the way the original books were released, so this just feels like a much more authentic continuation of the series!

About the Author
Bixio Rimoldi is a Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, where he developed an introductory course on digital communication. Previously he was Associate Professor at Washington University and took visiting positions at Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of California, Berkeley. He is an IEEE fellow, a past president of the IEEE Information Theory Society, and a past director of the communication system program at EPFL.

About the Author
Dr. Francine L. Hernandez has a doctorate in pastoral care and counseling. She is a board-certified pastoral counselor, chaplain, and clinical pastoral educator with the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy. For the past twelve years, she has trained ministers and lay people in the art of self-awareness. She is the organizer of the “I'm Just Saying Women's Retreat.” These retreats are geared toward helping women discover untapped power of personal transformation through a narrative approach. A Spiritual Journey

This Book, is a great motivator, a must read. It captured so much of my life paths, from childhood to adulthood. Life works in mysterious ways, and we we may not always follow the path that we have intended to, but we will always end up exactly where we are suppose to be.And sometimes in order to get to our desired outcome, we need to navigate our way through the storm and hold onto the only thing we have at the time-Blind Faith,that everything will work out in the end. Allowing others to Define you :Being judged by your physical attributes as an adult; in a society that constantly strive for perfection, is hard enough, but understanding those judgements as a little girl, can be quite a challenge. I quickly learned as I went through life is that we all encounter many people along the way who will attempt to tear us down and break our spirit.It is truly up to us to decide how we allow others to make us feel and whether or not we allow them to shape us into a person we are not. The Safety Pin has been a Great source of connection to the power and presence of God for me. There is no place where God does not exist and no place where He exists less or more.I can truly say, this book hit home, and has been an inspiration for me.

"How Do I Get a Change of Heart--For Someone Else?"

Popular LDS speaker John Bytheway tells of a woman asking how she could get her husband to change for the better. At the time he had no good answer for her. Upon reflection, he offers his best answer to readers of this book.

Bytheway begins by reminding us that we shouldn't--and really can't--force someone to change. He cites the Doctrine and Covenants 121:41-42 guidance to replace coercion with persuasion, long-suffering, gentleness, meekness, love unfeigned, and kindness. Both partners in a marriage should invite the Spirit into their relationship. Bytheway distinguishes between a covenant marriage, in which each partner dedicates their all to success, and a contract marriage, where each selfishly defends their own interests.

Consistent with these principles, the author makes specific suggestions, many taken from church leaders and family counselors. Avoid the toxic trap of criticism and sarcasm. Instead recognize, reward, and encourage good actions. Clarify with each other what roles you expect to play in the family. Understand male-female differences in communication. "Men talk for information, women talk for interaction," quotes the author from Deborah Tannen's You Just Don't Understand: Women and Men in Conversation. In addition to general gender differences, spouses should understand their individual differences and work with them instead of shouting past them.

Anticipating questions about a companion book for men, Bytheway gives two answers. First, this book's principles apply to men, too. Second, he recommends Robert Millet's Men of Valor: The Powerful Impact of a Righteous Man, which teaches similar ideas to men with "a nonthreatening, nonscolding, brotherly tone."

As you have come to expect from John Bytheway, this book is both insightful and humorous. He keeps his book light and readable while addressing heavy and often sensitive issues. This book will stay on my bookshelf (except when I'm rereading it). Great reading and thinking material for wives.
