Outstanding Hand Holding Through The Rocky Start

I decided in November that I was going to begin making my own plugins....hopefully for eventual profit. Starting out turned out to be a VERY rocky road. In fact, there was no road. A lot of guys who know how to do it will help you, but you've got to get your own ducks in a row and make your own path before you can finally write that one equation that actually processes the audio. I found myself reading college thesis papers and stuff that weren't designed to teach to get the info in between the lines.

I picked up this book the second I saw it. I couldn't be happier. The author's RackAFX software and approach to teaching gets you making plugins almost immediately. RackAFX automates a lot of the busy work so you can focus on the fun stuff. More importantly, it reduces the learning curve so you only have 20,000 things to learn instead of 50,000 things.

There is a lot of DSP discussion and that stuff ain't for the meek. After one read through the book I learned SOME. Halfway through the book a second time and I'm learning much more. I think the author teaches it about as well as any one author can teach it, but I imagine it'll take 10 different books before I get "good" at it.

I'd imagine the DSP holds up for everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Time will tell if RackAFX is the way to go for full-blown premium plugins, but at the moment I have soooo much to learn it's the least of my worries. I'm just thrilled something like this exists to prop me up during the learning phase.

Great resource for audio engineers to learn DSP & C++

I would generally wait until I've finished a book cover-to-cover before writing a review, but after digging into the first six chapters, I realized it's going to take me a while to get through this whole book, but for the very best reasons. I'm coming to this subject as a complete novice; with very little experience in C++, and only rudimentary knowledge of DSP, but I have found the text completely accessible, and Pirkle's simple overview of Basic DSP was worth the price of the book on it's own! The depth and breadth of the programming concepts is going to take me a while to work through, but I'm excited to do it and this is the first resource on C++ or DSP that I've found that really gives me hope that I (an audio engineer with little programming background) can learn these concepts and get to a point where I'm being creative with them; putting my own ideas into code and action.

Great book so far!

Great book that will help fill in some holes for many who are Studying DSP theory. In addition will introduce you to the RackAFX system that is used in conjunction with Microsoft Visual C++ 2008-2010. You may use RackAFX with other C++ compilers other than MSVBC++. You use RackAFX to help design the GUI while C++ is used to write the DSP code portion. RackAFX will automatically update the Code as you add Sliders, Knobs and buttons. There are many of examples from Delay, Filters, etc. The book has a great intro to the DSP math and will help fill the holes and clouds that many users may have as they delve into the Audio DSP. I'm still readying the book but so far it's been a great read into chapter 5. I recommend this to anyone who looks at many of the formulas seen in many DSP algorithms as this will help you understand them better.

About the Author
Joey Yap is the founder of the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics, a global organisation devoted to the teaching of Feng Shui, BaZi, Qi Men Dun Jia, Mian Xiang and other Chinese Metaphysics subjects. He is also the Chief Consultant of Joey Yap Consulting Group, an international consulting firm specialising in Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology services.

Joey Yap first began learning Chinese Metaphysics from masters in the field when he was fifteen. Despite having graduated with a Commerce degree in Accounting, Joey never became an accountant. Instead, he began to give seminars, talks and professional Chinese Metaphysic consultations around the world, and has become an avid property investor who also holds an interest in diverse businesses. By the age of twenty-six, he became a self-made millionaire. In 2008, he was listed in The Malaysian Tatler as the Top 300 Most Influential People in Malaysia and Prestige s Top 40 Under 40. In 2013, in recognition of his work and contribution to the industry, society and country, he received the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP), a prestigious award which carries the official title of Dato .

He is also the bestselling author of over 120 books on Feng Shui, Chinese Astrology (BaZi), Qi Men Dun Jia, Face Reading and Yi Jing, which has sold more than three million copies to-date. Most complete theoretical book

This seems like the most complete theoretical book on Qi Men Dun Jia written in english.
Joey Yap has a group of scientists/researchers called Joey Yap research team.
They scientifically prove and track what feng shui things give what outcome.
Joey exchanged this knowledge he has gained from the research with the knowledge of old Qi Men Dun Jia masters
in Hong Kong and other places. He is the only one who has studied Qi Men with different masters. So he has a wide view on the subject.
This book is most comprehensive theoretical book and it is so complete because the theory points to ALL applications of Qi Men.
Anyone who wants to seriously study the theory before reading books about the various applications, this is your book!
Congrats to Joey on a book well written.

The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the price. Joey's books are commercial and overpriced most of the time.
This one is also overpriced in my opinion. At the other hand, this book contains a wealth of knowledge.
You can buy it at the Joey Yap Store, but I suggest you wait for it to be available for purchase at amazon because they offer a lower price.

I also want to adress that QMDJ is probably the most difficult of all chinese metaphysical practises.
It's better and easier for the reader if they already have a good foundation in both Bazi and Feng Shui before reading any Qi Men books.

About the Author

Tore Bjørgo is Professor at the Norwegian Police University College and Senior Researcher at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. He has published extensively on terrorism, racist violence, youth gangs and crime prevention, and is author of Root Causes of Terrorism (2005).

John Horgan is Director of the International Center for the Study of Terrorism at The Pennsylvania State University. He is one of the world’s leading experts on terrorist psychology, and is author of over 50 publications in the field.

Great Primer Level for ETC

My daughter is just beginning the process of identifying letters and learning phonics to build her reading skills. This book is a great beginner book. I love that it identifies a few main consonants and really focuses on learning them. There are a wide variety of skills used to support this learning. She loved all the various activities and it really helped cement those concepts. It would likely get to be too repetitive for a child who was moving quickly through the letters and sounds but it has been great for us with a bit of a slower pace. Love this program and this a great primer level option!

Great book a little repetitive but is ok. My daughter likes it even though she is maybe a bit bored with it. Is well laid out. I would purchase again for my younger kids.
