About the Author

David Bodenhamer is Executive Director of The Polis Center at IUPUI and Professor of History. He is co-editor (with John Corrigan and Trevor M. Harris) of The Spatial Humanities: GIS and the Future of Humanities Scholarship (IUP, 2010).

John Corrigan is the Lucius Moody Bristol Distinguished Professor of Religion and Professor of History at Florida State University. He has authored or edited numerous books on the history of religion, including Religion and Space in the Atlantic World (forthcoming).

Trevor M. Harris is Eberly Professor of Geography at West Virginia University. He is one of the early contributors to the GIS and Society critique of spatial technologies.

Too much jargon!

I was excited to get this book because I'll be teaching a multidisciplinary course in spatial storytelling. But this is so loaded down with jargon it reads like a series of talks at a professional conference, where everyone is trying to impress everyone else with their vocabulary. There is interesting material buried in there, but you have to search for it. Definitely not going to assign this to my students.

Vandana Shiva is a physicist, world-renowned environmental thinker and activist, and a tireless crusader for economic, food, and gender justice. She is the author and editor of many influential books, including Making Peace with the Earth, Earth Democracy, Soil Not Oil, Stolen Harvest, Water Wars, and Globalization’s New Wars. Dr. Shiva is the recipient of more than twenty international awards, among them the Right Livelihood Award (1993); the John Lennon-Yoko Ono Grant for Peace (2008); The Sydney Peace Prize (2010); and the Calgary Peace Prize (Canada, 2011). In addition, she is a board member of the World Future Council and one of the leaders and board members of the International Forum on Globalization (whose other members include Jerry Mander, Edward Goldsmith, Ralph Nader, and Jeremy Rifkin). She travels frequently to speak at conferences around the world.

Well written. Recommended for all Eco-feminists. At times Shiva is harsh and critical of science and westernized countries. She is also overly critical of women within the United States. But overall, it is an eye-opener.

The reviewer who says this is not true should provide proof; otherwise, we have no reason to disbelieve Dr. Shiva.

What can I say about Wanting Spencer ...

Well, to begin, I'm more in love with Brandon, if that is possible. He is more determined, more passionate, more jealous, even more than the Spencer's POV.
Is he the same in Wanted? Yes, but still very different, it's a new story. Any doubt I had in her view, I was now clarified, in his view.

Kimberly, what can I say about you ... Simple: Talent!
I love your writing, your description of the characters and the the way you took the story!
As much as I love Brandon, I have to admit that the chemical Brandon & Spencer is perfect!
Congratulations. It's wonderful!

This is one of my favorite series ever so reading it from Brandon's POV is just an added bonus. As usual Kimberly did not disappoint. This is a novella so it is a rather quick read full of drama and sex! I love Brandon's protectiveness and how caring he is. And sex scenes from his pov, well, they are HOT!!!!! Great Job Kimberly!

Rookies

My two sons, ages 8 and 4, love the episode Rookies from The Clone Wars season 1. This book includes the episodes Clone Cadets and ARC Troopers from season 3, respectively the prequel and sequel of Rookies. While the episodes are fun to watch, the stories are fun to read. I like that my older son picked out a chapter book and that he read much of it to himself (normally he likes me to read the longer books to him). Any fan of Fives, Echo, Cutup and Hevy will enjoy the stories that brought them together as brothers.

Good enchancement but poor standalone story.

Summary: This follows the members of Domino squad from cadets up through part of their careers as ARC troopers.

Random Comments:
- There are 3 typos, which isn't a great ratio in a ~150 pg, professionally put together book.
- Plot (3/5 stars) - It's all right, but you feel like there's a whole lot missing in between because it's broken into sections as they're cadets, rookies, then troopers.
- Bad guys are Ventress and Grevious... not too much more character depth to them here.
- I do like that they worked in an appearance by Rex, Cody, Anakin, and Obi-Wan.
- Themes of fighting for family are excellent.
- Dialogue (3/5 stars) - Nothing overly impressive but it all sounds plausible.

Conclusion: If you enjoy the Clone Wars tv show, you may like this as an enhancement to that, but on it's own, it's just all right.

Feisty hairdresser Nora Darby has always wanted children, it's a husband she can do without. She knows seeing Doctor Stephen Remington is dangerous, threatening her heart, but she refuses to listen to her little voice of caution when she's in his arms. Other women can have adult affairs without disrupting their lives, so surely she can too. Except that the first night of incredible sex turns her life upside down. And she's been lonely a long time.
Stephen offers a special relationship without the emotional attachments of marriage. He wants monogamy, and when the inevitable end comes, he wants it to be friendly. Then an incredible night of passion leads to unexpected emotional intimacy...broken when he realizes that the condom also broke. He wants this child, and will marry Nora to share his child's life. Somehow he can't stop admiring the intriguing woman with the loud mouth and hidden, soft heart.
Susan Mallery has a talent for creating memorable characters with surprising depth and determination. Nora and Stephen provide heart-warming entertainment as they skirt the issues of love and commitment. While this is not a plot driven novel, the depth of characterization, especially Nora's firce independence and strength of character, make her special and memorable. A cute quick read

Unexpectedly Expecting is by Susan Mallery. It is a quick and easy read about taking chances. It is really good, although it may not be quite as good as some of her other books. That could definitely be because it is much shorter than some of the others. However, it does grab your attention from the first chapter until the last.
Stephen Remington has come to Lone Star Canyon, Texas to be the general doctor he has always wanted to be. He left a lucrative ER post in Boston to finally live out his dream as a country doctor. The six months he has been here have already proven he was right to come. Today, his skills may be needed as a tornado races through the town. Thankfully, there is relatively little damage and few severe injuries. In his race to get people into the shared shelter, he meets Nora Darby, owner of the Snip ‘n Clip hair salon he can see from his office window. For the first time in a very long time, he is immediately attracted to a woman and wants to get to know Nora. He is not looking for love or a long term relationship.
Nora Darby does not want anything to do with men. She was deserted by her Father when she was young and again by her fiancé. She does not want to be let down again. She also does not want to be the object of town gossip which is highly probable in the small town. Even as she resists Stephen’s overtures of friendship, she is attracted to him. When he suggests their having an affair with no strings and no falling in love or wanting any future relationship, she agrees. Has she made a mistake?

Not much of a story line here. Too much sex and not enough story. I'm usually a big fan of hers, but this was a let down. But it did lead to reading a connected story, which was good.

Comprehensive examples investigate “value” from a risk-reduction perspective and from an “expected return on investment” perspective.

This book offers solutions to the problem that many mining projects fail to achieve expectations because of their inability to adapt to change. A new technique is explained that allows calculation of capital that is “at risk” from capital that is not at risk. This promises significant advances in the way that investments are made and capital is valued in the industry.

Concise, Comprehensive and Understandable

If you're unfamiliar with economics in general, but are in the mining industry, I would recommend this book to you. Not only is Mining Economics and Strategy easy to understand, it incorporates helpful examples, methods and programs to support the text.
The book is not limited to mining engineers either. Examples and all information can be understood and utilised in all economical situations - i.e. anywhere money is involved.
As a mineral processing engineer this book was recommended by a mining engineer and I was pleasantly suprised with the detail and presentation of the book

Very practical approach with many excellent example evaluations

Runge's approach to this topic is the most practical of all the experts in this field. He provides many good examples with which you can model your own evaluation to most mining situations. He also offers a two day course, which also provides you with the book. His major competition is Frank Stermole, whose book is much more theoretical and harder to put into actual practice. I would recommend Ian Runge's book for those who need to get a good grasp on the subject in short order. Very well written, by a recognized PhD specializing in the topic.

This is a beautiful text written by somebody who not only deeply understands the structure/texture of the technical and commercial challenges inherent in mining projects, but who also explains them in a brilliantly succinct fashion. A very practical yet easy-to-read book.

Powerful and emotional story

My family is from a small town in Louisiana and I have not come across too many stories that reference small town Creole culture. For me, there was a comfort to it, I was so engulfed in Lula Mae and her family right up until the last page and I was sad when the story ended because I wanted to hear more about the family and the culture. I hope Ms. Cuie has more stories in the works!

I truly ejoyed this book based on the true story of Lula Mae. The ending left me hanging and wondering what will happen to Lula Mae's children. I look forward to reading a second book.
